“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”

Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting

Description: December 1, join the mayor in kicking off the holiday season with the 4th annual Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting. There will be entertainment, refreshments, and a visit from Santa Claus at the event.

Living Windows

December 2

Time: 6-9 p.m.
Location: Downtown Jefferson City
Description: A Jefferson City tradition for almost 20 years, Living Windows takes place downtown. Storefronts and windows come alive with dancers, singers, religious and holiday themes. Hayrides wind their way through the streets and Santa Claus makes his yearly visit to Hawthorn Bank. This year over 50 groups are participating in the event that will fill High Street from Jefferson Street to Adams Street for more than three blocks of entertainment.  Enjoy refreshments, listen to carolers from the Central United Church of Christ choir and watch performances by Jefferson City Dance Academy at the Cole County Historical Society Museum Holiday Open House (109 Madison St).

Candlelight Tours

Description: Each Holiday Season the Governor’s Mansion is beautifully decorated and during this annual special the Governor and his wife personally great all of those who come to tour the Mansion. Many enjoy visiting during the holiday season, especially to see the Governor’s Mansion in its nighttime elegance.

14th Annual Capital City Speed Skating Championships

Location: Washington Park Ice Arena
Description: The Washington Park Ice Arena will host the 14th annual Speed Skating Championships on Saturday, December 3. More than 60 skaters from all across Missouri, as well as from Oklahoma, Texas and Illinois, will compete in this unique event.

Sing We Now of Christmas

Description: The Jefferson City Cantorum presents “Sing We Now of Christmas” at the Miller Performing Arts Center. Come hear songs and carols of the season in Jefferson City’s finest concert hall. This is the Cantorum’s 44th year in performing for Jefferson City audiences. Songs for all ages. Don’t miss the joy and excitement of a LIVE performance in a great concert hall this Christmas season!

74th Annual Capitol Caroling

December 13

Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Missouri State Capitol Rotunda
Description: Few traditions are as joyous as the Jefferson City Public Schools Capitol Caroling event held each year at the Missouri Capitol Rotunda. This year marks the 74th annual presentation of Capitol Caroling in the Missouri State Capitol Rotunda by the Fine Arts departments at Jefferson City High School and Simonsen 9th Grade Center. Performances will include traditional holiday numbers and special selections. Seating in the rotunda is limited. Everyone attending should enter and exit through the south carriage doors only. The program will include performances by the Jefferson City High School Symphonic Band; High School Orchestra; Chorale; Simonsen Choirs and the JCHS Concert Choir. Media broadcasts of Capitol Caroling will be provided at a later date. This is a fragrance free event.

Finally, the Arrive Alive Slam Dunk Contest and 3-Point Shootout will be held Thursday the 29th at 12:00 p.m.
