You will find both old and new favorites, including “Civil War Missouri: A House Dividing,” an exhibit that commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Evening entry to the museum will be through the carriage entrance on the south side of the building underneath the grand staircase.
At the first “Museum after Hours” event, interpretive staff from the museum will offer a program about Ella Ewing, the “Missouri Giantess.” From a small town in Missouri, Ella Ewing toured with the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus because of her extreme height. She is reported to have been over eight feet tall and was perhaps the tallest woman in the world during her lifetime! The Missouri State Museum has some artifacts in its collection related to Ella, including some of her shoes, which can be viewed at this presentation.
