Several locations in Jefferson City are worth mentioning specifically: downtown Jefferson City, the Missouri State Penitentiary and the Missouri State Capitol.

These three are highlighted below.  Click here to see numerous photos of other locations in Jefferson City.

Missouri State Penitentiary

A Hall low resNot limited to just incarceration this multi-building site could be post-apocalyptic, industrial, urban, sci-fi… The possibilities are endless.  Built in 1836, the Missouri State Penitentiary was 100 years old when Alcatraz opened its doors.  Buildings on the site include several different styles; some of which are available for minor demolition.

Missouri State Capitol

IMG_4443This stately building is the third Capitol building in Jefferson City and was completed in 1918.  The Missouri State Capitol has a remarkable resemblance to the United States’ Capitol in Washington D.C. with its large columns and grand entrance staircase.  The grandeur of the outside of the building is equally matched by the beauty of the interior.  Long corridors are lined with original artwork, including pieces by famous artists Thomas Hart Benton and Sir Frank Brangwyn.

Downtown Jefferson City

50sShoot003High Street runs through the center of the city and is where Jefferson City began. That’s the reason you feel like you’ve stepped back into time when you walk down the street. The buildings are beautifully designed and exemplify some amazing architecture.
